How to Care For Slate Tiles

Slate is one of the strongest natural stones. It is resistant to cracks, chips, breaks and scratches, meaning it is a great choice for your home, even in heavy foot traffic areas.

That being said, it still needs to be looked after. During installation the slate tiles should be coated with a sealant to close the little pores that are in the natural stone. Depending on how often the flooring is used, you might need to reapply the sealant every couple of years.

In terms of regular cleaning, the tiles should be regularly hoovered and mopped. When mopping, use a mild cleaning solution. Hydrogen peroxide is a mild type of bleach that can be used on heavy stains. Just make sure it is properly cleaned off after.
